MLS Jersey Sponsorship Cost
How much does Adidas pay in MLS? Adidas claimed the exclusive MLS kit rights starting in 2005 with a 10-year US$150,000,000 deal. The deal was to be completed in 2014. But in the midway, both parties went for a new and improved deal. Hence, in between 2005-10, Adidas paid US$90m in 6 seasons ($15m per year). And from 2011 onwards till 2018, Adidas paid an enhanced $25m per year. In the 2nd cycle, Adidas’s deal with the MLS was worth US$200m for 8 years.
Cycle | Total Worth & Length of the Deal | Yearly Amount | Deal Details |
2005-10 (1st Cycle) | US$150 Million for 10 Years | US$15M Per Year | The deal was replaced after 2010 with an increased contract fee. Exclusive rightsholder for all MLS club kits. |
2011-18 (2nd Cycle) | US$200 Million for 8 Years | US$25M Per Year | Adidas was the exclusive rightsholder for all MLS club kits. |

However, the sum hugely increased during the 3rd cycle when the company contracted to supply the kits and match balls of MLS in 2017. That deal was 6-year-long starting in 2019 and runs through 2024. The mentioned deal cost Adidas US$700m for 6 years. In that cycle, MLS clubs combined received nearly $117 million US Dollars per year. Meanwhile, the very next deal Adidas made with the Major League Soccer witnessed an 18.75% increment. Adidas now will pay a total of US$830m! The deal will start in 2025 and will expire no before 2030. So, this 6-year-long deal will see the 29 MLS clubs taking approximately $138m USD per year.

Nevertheless, Apple TV has made an exclusive global TV rights deal with MLS. The deal is worth 2.5 Billion US Dollars for 10 years. Hence, the league receives US$250m per year from that deal. Apart from the tech giant’s exclusive TV broadcast rights, the Apple TV logo also appears on the left sleeve of all 29 MLS club kits. Each team receives an equal share of the sum from this deal as well. Don’t forget, all 29 MLS sides have their respective jersey partners as well. For instance, Royal Caribbean is the kit-front endorser for Inter Miami while Etihad Airways endorses New York City FC or Mercy Health sponsors FC Cincinnati. Similarly, clubs can make deals for the shirt’s right sleeve sponsor with their respective clients. For example, logistics company Fracht Group’s logo appears on the Inter Miami jersey’s right-sleeve portion.
